Daniel G. Fox

Daniel G. Fox was a UH Hilo Computer Science major who would have graduated in December, 1990. The Fox prize was established in his memory, and is given annually to the most outstanding Junior in Computer Science, as demonstrated by academic excellence and involvement in department activities.

Tuition grant of $1200/semester (spring semester award subject to a 3.5 GPA in the fall semester) plus $500 cash per academic year.

The award is presented at the annual Computer Science award ceremony in late April or early May, and the recipient is also recognized at the College of Arts and Sciences Student Awards ceremony in May.

In adition, the recipient's name is engraved and added to the perpetual plaque at the Computer Science & Engineering Wall of Fame at College Hall 11.

Eligibility Criteria

The intent is that the Prize will help support a student during his/her last year as a Computer Science major and that he/she will graduate the year following announcement of the Prize. Therefore an applicant:

  1. Must have been a full-time student in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at UH Hilo for at least twelve months prior to being considered for the Prize.
  2. Must have been declared a Computer Science major for at least twelve months prior to being considered for the Prize.
  3. Must have completed sufficient courses so that he/she is within two semesters of graduation with a Computer Science degree.
  4. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  5. Must be a full-time student in the year following announcement of the Prize.

Eligible students will be notified via email in early Spring semester and will receive an application form to the scholarship.
