Dr. Shawon S. M. Rahman is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi Hilo (UH Hilo). He is serving as the Faculty advisor of Pre-engineering program and the program director of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics certificate program at UH Hilo.

Dr. Rahman is serving as the editor-in-chief in the International Journal on Cryptography and Information Security (IJCIS) and guest editors to a few journals and also serving more than 15 conferences/journals as a reviewer and/or program committee member. Dr. Rahman is serving as the Member-at-large and Academic Advocate: Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and Academic Advocate of the IBM Academic Initiative. He has received and managed several federal and local grants including NSF, USDA, DOE, etc.

Dr. Rahman’s research interests include Cybersecurity, Information Assurance and security, STEM Outreach, Digital Forensics, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things Security, Web Accessibility, Robotics, Software Testing and Quality Assurance. He has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles and mentored numerous students and at least 50 have published their first peer-reviewed publication co-authoring with him. He is a member of many professional organizations including IEEE, ACM, CSTA, ASEE, ASQ, ISCA, and ISACA.
