UH Security team, 2009 - breakthrough on hacking problem!

About the Team

Do you have what it takes to exploit the enemy's network? Or to protect your own? The UHH Security Competition team is a newer team that participates in various security competitions that test the team's ability to either defend or attack a cyber system. Systems that have been defended or attacked include various Windows operating systems, Linux and Unix servers, and even iPhones.

National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

  • CCDC is a three day event and the first competition that specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing “commercial” network infrastructure. This competition is basically defensive in nature. Not only do students get a chance to test their knowledge in an operational environment, they will also get a chance to network with industry professionals who are always on the look out for up and coming engineers. CCDC provides a unique opportunity for students and industry professionals to interact and discuss many of the security and operational challenges the students will soon face as they enter the job market. In Spring 2010, we had the honor of participating in a mock competition between Alaska and Hawaii to test the feasibility of creating our own regional competition that could advance to the national level.
