Syed (Shawon)M. Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Hawai`i-Hilo. He earned his Ph.D. in Software Engineering and MS in Computer Science degree from North Dakota State University. Dr. Rahman's research interests include Software Engineering Education, Visualization, Information Assurance & Security, Web Accessibility, and Software Testing & Quality Assurance. His research focus also includes Search Engine Optimization and Lightweight Software Development Methodologies such as eXtreme Programming and Test-driven Development.
Dr. Rahman is serving as a Project Leader in current EPSCoR project in the area of Visualization and Scientific Computation. He is the faculty adviser of Robotics Club at UH-Hilo. Dr. Rahman is also serving as the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal on Crytography and Information Security (IJCIS) He is an active member of many professional organizations including ACM, ASEE, ASQ, IEEE, and UPE.
