Dr. John Gersting earned his B.S. degree at Purdue University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. at Arizona State University.
His research interests are in databases, especially as related to human genetics. He was active in the distance ed program at UH Hilo that provided a route to the B.S. degree in Computer Science for students on other islands in the state. He developed several new courses for the computer science major, including the three-course sequence for the Database Certificate at UH Hilo, and many computer science general education courses.
He returned to Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis as a faculty member in Computer Science.
